Design Features:
- Look up first. The ceiling does something most rooms don't bother with anymore. Deep coffered panels, trimmed edges, shadow pooling differently depending on the hour. There's real weight to it. This room wasn't built to photograph well. It was built to last.
- Seating curves into a U. Cream sofa hold the outer edges, olive velvet chairs sit pulled toward the middle. Everyone faces it. That's the whole point of a majlis, really, nobody is stuck talking to the back of someone's head.
- Brass towers over the sofas on both sides. Candles flicker against the plaster once lit. Not just lighting. More like a presence in the corner, something for the eye to land on between conversations.
- Marble tables, two of them, sit low at the centre. Different heights, different shapes, same stone. One holds the books and glasses. The other's kept clear, just flowers on it. Dubai summers are hard on wood, it warps, it dulls. Marble just sits there, cool, unbothered.
- Raised plaster covers the walls. Not loud about it either, the kind of detail you notice on a second pass rather than the first. It takes real skill to pull off. Gives the whole room that older, more traditional Arabic feel without tipping into costume.
