Design Features

  • A jungle print wallpaper takes up an entire wall. There are palm leaves everywhere with a few leopards and bright birds hiding in between. It’s bright, busy and hard to ignore. Clients tend to stop and look at it before anything else.
  • The styling station has a dark vanity under a tall black arched mirror. A carved crest sits right on top of the frame. Thin frames tend to disappear on a loud wallpaper like this one. The heavy black arch doesn’t and it gives the station a strong outline.
  • The styling chair is terracotta leather with diamond quilting on a gold base. Being the only orange piece in the room it’s easy to spot among all the green and black.
  • Black and white marble is laid across the floor in a striped geometric pattern. Bold floor patterns were a big part of the original Art Deco era. The stripes carry on past the doorway and guide clients to the barbering corner.
  • Right at the entrance hangs a chandelier made of black crystal. Beside it is a deep green panel with a gold fan design which is a well known Deco shape. A traditional barber station waits through the doorway with carved dark wood shelving on either side and brass lights on the wall.

FAQs

How can bold print wallpaper work without overwhelming a salon?

Keep the print to one wall. Furniture and fabrics should then pick up colours already found in the pattern. The terracotta chair and deep green panel in this salon both take their shades from the jungle print. Matching colours to a single pattern is one of the simplest salon shop design ideas to follow.

Can one salon serve both men and women in the UAE?

Yes with clearly separate zones for each service. Ladies’, gents’ and unisex salons aren’t always licensed the same way in the UAE. Checking licence conditions with the authorities before design work begins is the safest step. Changing a layout after it’s built costs far more than planning it right from the start.

Does a black and white marble floor take a lot of upkeep?

It needs regular care. On black marble every bit of dust shows up along with dried water spots. White marble is the one to watch for hair dye. How much it stains comes down to the type of stone and how well it’s sealed. A quick sweep each day and resealing on schedule keep both colours looking crisp.

What goes into making a marble inlay floor?

Most inlay pieces are cut with a waterjet for very precise edges. They’re then fitted together on site like a puzzle. This work needs more than a general tiler. A commercial interior design firm usually brings in a specialist stone fabricator to plan the pattern, cut each piece and lay it so every joint lines up.

What’s the best way to budget for an Art Deco salon?

Start with the big ticket items. To estimate interior design cost for this style list the marble inlay floor, chandeliers and custom mirrors first. Wallpaper and upholstery cost far less but still do a lot to create the Art Deco look.
