Design Features

  • The mirrors are set into white plaster arches that stand on the floor. No one touches a wall. A warm strip of light runs inside each curve and the whole row has the calm feel of a small gallery. Both sides of each arch are open so one frame can serve a station at the front and another at the back.
  • Above the styling stations hang ring pendants with plants trailing over the sides. Those rings follow the same curve as the arches. Real looking leaves bring some colour into a room that’s mostly cream and taupe.
  • Beside the wash area hangs a large round piece of rough cut stone. A thin wood border wraps its edge. Against the smooth plaster walls it’s the one surface that looks raw and natural.
  • Beige and brown basin chairs lean back with the arches right behind them. After a rinse, the styling chair is only a few steps away. Clients don’t have to walk across the whole salon in a towel.
  • A timber slat grid on a dark brown wall holds the hair colour tubes with a white mixing counter just below. Similar shades are grouped together which saves time during busy hours. Vertical blinds filter the afternoon sun into soft stripes across the floor.

FAQs

Why does a hair salon need a separate colour mixing area?

A separate counter keeps chemicals away from clients and speeds up colour work. Mixing at the styling chair puts fumes and spills close to the client’s face. A dedicated counter with good ventilation helps fumes clear faster. This is why most professional salon interior design includes a separate mixing zone.

Are freestanding mirror stations better than wall mounted ones?

Yes because they offer more flexibility. Walls stay free for windows or storage and the layout can be changed later. Stability needs planning. Each frame needs a weighted base or floor fixing and power cables have to run up through the floor.

Can a textured stone wall be used near wash basins?

It can if it’s planned well. Natural stones have tiny pores where water and shampoo can soak in and leave marks over time. A good sealer lowers the chance of staining. Keeping the wall a little outside the splash area helps as well.

How should plumbing be planned for salon wash basins?

Each basin needs its own drain with an easy to clean filter that stops hair from blocking the pipes. Steady hot water matters too. Most commercial interior design firms plan this with a plumbing engineer early, so the system can handle a busy day.

How much does it cost to set up a hair salon with wash and colour zones?

The number of basins and the plumbing behind them make up most of the cost. Custom mirror frames and ventilation add to the total as well. An interior design cost calculator shows how much each extra station adds to the budget.
