Design Features

  • The ceiling has a large oval recess lined with bronze. Soft light glows around its edge and makes the room feel taller.
  • A chandelier hangs from the centre of the recess. Its glass petals come in two shades. Few are clear and the rest are blush. There are tiny lamps tucked in between and the petals shimmer when they are turned on.
  • Cream panels cover the walls in a soft wavy pattern. Along the top of them is a strip of bronze. Their curved edges look a bit like draped fabric.
  • There is a tall arched mirror with a lit edge behind the vanity. On both sides are niches with rounded ends and light behind them. Treatment products are placed on glass shelves in those niches.
  • The vanity is white in colour with flutes down the front and it stands on a gold base. Pulled up to it is a blush velvet chair and there is a trolley on wheels next to that. The stylist can reach everything with just one step.

A contemporary scheme leans on current materials and clean lines, so the room stays current without being tied to a single season’s trend.

FAQs

Is it possible for a small salon to look high-end and still feel roomy?

Yes. Using fewer things helps more than people expect. One chair that stands out or a big mirror says more than many small bits. Wall storage means less stuff on the floor. Most small salon interior design works best around two or three strong features.

Will white marble make a small salon seem larger?

It helps quite a bit. The pale stone bounces the light back into the room. Big slabs with thin joints look like one smooth floor. If the veins run lengthwise a narrow room looks longer too.

How should a glass petal chandelier be cleaned?

Wiping each petal with a microfibre cloth and some mild glass cleaner does the job. Salons get a lot of hairspray in the air and it builds up on glass faster than in a home. So the cleaning has to happen more often. Petals that come off are easier to clean.

What are sculpted wall panels usually made from?

Mostly shaped MDF or gypsum with glass fibre in it. After that they get paint or a metallic finish. The gypsum type copes better with damp so salons tend to go for it. A lot of commercial interior design firms work with a specialist maker for these and leave the making and fitting to them.

Is a feature ceiling expensive?

That depends on a few things like the shape and the finish and how much lighting goes in. Bronze curves and a custom made glass chandelier will cost more. An interior design cost calculator lets owners put a feature ceiling and a simple flat one side by side and see the gap.
